What’s up party people!!!!! It’s the last day of February and I’m coming to realization that March of 2023 is going to be a PACKED month of pop culture intake. As someone who is already a little theater fatigued, I’m excited about both new and old hits coming to streaming. I also included some heavy hitters in the TV realm, so don’t hate me if you only wanted movies. But here you go – broken down by release date, here’s what are some notable things coming to a screen (big or small) near you this month.

March 1
- The Mandalorian, season 3 (TV Show, Disney+)
Pedro! Grogu! Jon Favreau! You don’t need me to tell you why to watch this/what it is. - Creed I & Creed II (HBO Max & Amazon Prime)
Just in time for Creed III, the previous two films hit streaming. As someone who doesn’t understand the acclaim Rocky received but thinks the Creed trilogy reinvented the sports movie, I can’t recommend enough. Plus, Michael B. Jordan. Tessa Thompson. Ryan Coogler. Enough said.
High-level plot: The son of heavyweight champion Apollo Creed, Adonis, gets trained by former rival of his father, Rocky Balboa. A lot of stuff happens. - Sinister (HBO Max)
Loyal readers will know – I am a massive horror fan. That being said, this movie freaks me out. And now it’s coming back to streaming!
High-level plot: An true-crime author finds a set of video tapes in his new home, each one detailing a horrific murder, tying back to his current case, and potentially involving him and his family in something sinister. *ba dum tss* - Easy A (Netflix)
In the grand scheme of romantic comedies, Easy A is towards the top of my list. It’s a perfect movie. And now, you can rewatch the Pocketful of Sunshine clip as many times as you want on Netflix.
High-level plot: A too-smart-for-her-own-good teenage girl accidentally starts a rumor and ends up inadvertently challenging the views of her hometown when it comes to s-e-x. - Mamma Mia! (Peacock)
Hal is dreading this update, but yes. The first Mamma Mia is coming to Peacock this March. I will celebrate by revisiting the photos from the cast and crew wrap party.
High-level plot: Who cares? It’s ABBA songs set in a Grecian island paradise with Colin Firth. - Point Break (Peacock)
If you’re a fan of Alamo Drafthouse, you’ve probably noticed that March is the Keanu renaissance. They’re showing a lot of his best work, but missing is Johnny Utah himself – Point Break. Bonus points for the shock I always get when I remember this was directed by a woman.
High-level plot: Surfers turned robbers. No, I’m not kidding. Watch it. - In Bruges (Starz)
Toot toot, everybody hop on the Colin Farrell train. If you enjoyed The Banshees of Inisherin, I’m willing to bet you’ll fucking LOVE this one.
High-level plot: Hitmen Ray (Farrell) and Ken (Brendan Gleeson! Also from Banshees!) wait in Bruges, Belgium after a job gone wrong. Dark comedy at its finest.
March 3
- Creed III (Theaters)
I think the best thing I can write here is just to link the trailer. - Daisy Jones & The Six (TV Show, Amazon Prime)
If you know me in real life, you know Fleetwood Mac is one of my favorite things on Earth. Daisy Jones & The Six draws a lot of inspiration from my muses. I’ll be sat first thing on March 3.
High-level plot: A fictionalized documentary about a 1970s rock band, filled with love, drugs, and music. - Triangle of Sadness (Hulu)
This film was the most surprising best picture nomination to me this year. It’s incredibly polarizing. You’ll either love this movie or hate it -there’s very little in between. Bonus points for the lil white boy for adding another person I have to think really hard about before realizing which person he is. (Harris Dickinson, also in Where the Crawdads Sing, not George MacKay from 1917.)
High-level plot: A couple who should definitely not be together take a cruise for the 1%. Do not watch on a full stomach.
March 8
- MH 370: The Plane that Disappeared (Netflix)
Somehow, I am on plane crash Tik Tok, so it’s only natural that I’m excited about this new documentary on Netflix.
High-level plot: A documentary that chronicles the disappearance of the Malaysian Airlines Flight 370, which disappeared without a trace, leaving the surviving family members to question where they are and what they’re not being told.
March 10

- Scream VI (Theater)
Ghostface has made it to NYC. Personally, I could go without the *SPOILER ALERT* Billy Loomis daughter timeline, but hey, I’ll watch anything Jenna Ortega is in.
High-level plot: The survivors of the most recent Ghostface attacks in Woodsboro make it to the Big Apple/NYC, which means a lot more places to hide and the potential for a lot more bodies. - Jackass Forever (Amazon Prime)
If there’s one thing that never fails to put a smile on my face, it’s watching people be silly together without being mean-spirited. Jackass Forever is a perfect thing to put on the TV when you’ve had a long day at work and don’t want to critically think.
High-level plot: It’s masculinity at its finest – dumb stunts pulled by brave souls. - Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris (Amazon Prime)
I watched this on the plane home from my honeymoon and sobbed the whole time. Put this in the same cinematic universe as Paddington.
High-level plot: A war widow and housekeeper saves her money to buy a custom gown from Dior, traveling all the way to Paris to make her dream come true.
March 15
- Ted Lasso, season 3 (Apple TV)
AHHHHHHH! I’m telling you, this is the month of prestige TV coming back. The stache is back. That’s all I’ve got.
March 16
- Official Competition (Hulu)
I saw this for my birthday last year and I cannot recommend it enough. This is one of the funniest dark comedies I’ve seen in forever.
High-level plot: An avant-garde filmmaker, a prestige actor, and a movie star try to make a film.
March 17
- Swarm (2023) [Amazon Prime]
Okay, add this to your list if you haven’t heard of it.
High-level plot: A young woman’s obsession with her favorite pop star takes a bloody turn.
March 21
- Nope (Amazon Prime)
The Best Picture/Lead Actress nomination that should’ve been. That’s all I’ve got.
High-level plot: A brother and sister are trying to keep the family business, providing livestock/horses for films, alive. Aliens show up. Chaos (and cinematic excellence) ensue.
March 24
- John Wick: Chapter 4 (Theaters)
High-level plot: John Wick must battle Pennywise the Clown to get out of the assassin life. Plus Rina Sawayama is in this one!!!!!! - A Good Person (Theaters)
I would like to clarify I do not support Zach Braff, however, I do support Florence Pugh, therefore A Good Person is on my list.
High-level plot: After Allison is in a traumatic accident, her life starts to unravel as she falls into an opiate addition. - Top Gun: Maverick (Amazon Prime)
Another Best Picture nominee hits a main streaming service this month. After watching All Quiet on the Western Front, I’m not sure I’ll enjoy this as much as I originally did, but hey. It’s fucking Top Gun. - Yellowjackets, season 2 (TV Show, Showtime)
If you haven’t seen season 1, it was one of my favorite shows of 2021. After their plane goes down on the way to a championship soccer game, a team of teenage girls has to fight for survival, interwoven with them (those who survived) grown up. Buzz buzz bitch.
High-level plot: Here’s the trailer. - Minx, season 1 (TV Show, Starz)
After so rudely being abruptly canceled during the shooting of season 2, Minx returns to streaming via Starz.
High-level plot: A self-proclaimed liberated feminist and reporter is having trouble finding work, so she goes into business with a porn producer to create Minx, a porn/feminist magazine.
March 26
- Succession, season 4 (HBO Max)
I am a Kendall Roy stan before I’m anything else.
High-level plot: Spoiled, inept kids try to fight for the throne their sadistic father is (presumably) vacating soon.
March 31
- Tetris (Apple TV)
When I saw this was coming out, I thought they had made another game adaption and wondered exactly what the hell my boy Taron E. was doing there. Then I remembered the weirdly bloody history of Tetris and now I can’t wait.
High-level plot: Based on the true story of how the world’s most famous video game came to bed, there’s spies, there’s the USSR, there’s murder, and there’s Taron Egerton.
- Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves (Theaters)
Ahh, another game adaption hits theaters. To me, this movie looks like what a fantasy comedy should be – few jokes, cool effects, and nostalgic rock.
High-level plot: Based on what Chris Pine says in the trailer, they helped the wrong person steal a powerful weapon and now they’re trying to steal it back.
What’s on your list for this March? Did I miss anything? (Other than Shazam, which I intentionally left out.) Give me a shout if I did. Now go enjoy some great pop culture!
